Granny Takes a Trip

I was at a bar the other night, in this shithole place, while I was visiting my parents . I can now proudly call it a shithole probably because I don't live there anymore. I was at the only happening place on a Friday night, sadly, at some country western bar. It was pretty interesting with a very diverse mix from older crowds, like grandmas (no...really) cholos and cholitas and of course sexual country men. Everyone from the age of 21 to 61 was having a grand time.

The thing that really caught my attention was the fact that the 61 year old crowd was dressing cuter than the 21 year olds. WTF. Maybe its the fact that its Victorville and the kids my age don't give a fuck what they look like. Or maybe the fact that the divorce rate is insanity so the 61 year olds were still trying to hold on to their youth and catch the eye of those hot 61 year old cowboys. Well they defiantly caught my eye and allowed me to hold on to the little string of hope I have for the deserts fashion sense.

And this goes to show you about my previous post Age is just a #.

This adorable lady was wearing a sheer skull hi-lo shirt with skinny leather leggings and black flats. I love her short silver hair, it pulls the look together.

I did a little paparazzi move on this lady. The print on her skirt was a "50s Hawaiian boardshort" feel with bright flowers and leaves on a rich navy blue background and bright orange fringe at the bottom. I loved that she made the skirt pop more with a shaded lime green top and a thick sued belt around her waist. She completed the look by wearing thick grey tights with knee high heeled boots.

Age is just a #

Growing up with a mom that was super blunt about whether or not I looked like a fatass in something really turned out to be helpful. Because I always tend to look past "OMG, I have to wear this because it's sooo in," to "does this piece look good on me." What pieces look good on a hanger may turn out to be amazing on your body or maybe what looks good on that size 0 mannequin won't look good on you.

It shouldn't matter your age, if you want to fucking wear something, then wear it. AS LONG as it looks good and flatters your body. Who gives a shit about the people saying you shouldn't wear white pants after Labor Day. If you want to wear them, and they look cute with your outfit, then do it, and work the shit out of that outfit. Nothings more beautiful than a women wearing confidence.

One of my favorite lessons my fashion teacher taught me was about shapes and silhouettes. From clothing silhouettes and how it draped on the body. I recommend anyone that feels they need advice about clothing, if your blessed enough to live next to a college that teaches fashion, go to at least one class about that. If not the Internet and Google can be your instructor.

The message I always try to pass along to older gals that think that all these trends are only for teens and twenty somethings, they're not. You could wear them too. So go look through Nylon magazine and stretch that target market age group.

Don't forget to be your best and look your best.
